Shakeeb Abu Hamdan is a Lebanese/British artist, musician and recording engineer based in France.

His visual work consists of systems of drawings, found illustrations and texts that relate to the construction of historical narrative. His publications and print/drawing installations occupy a space somewhere between contemporary art and experimental comics.

His sound-based work spans performance, experimental composition and sound for film.
He plays an unorthodox setup of drums, bells and cymbals which he augments and amplifies with surface transducers, microphones, pitch and rhythmic modulation effects, modified megaphones and other electronic devices. Performances unfold along loose structures that leave space for generative accidents and improvisation, responding to the instabilities of feedback manipulation and other unpredictable interactions built into his instrumental system.

Recent exhibitions at Beirut Art Centre and Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, residencies at EMS, Stockholm and Les Instants Chavirés, releases via Cafe OTO’s Takuroku label and Tsss Tapes.
